𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗥 𝗢𝗦𝗛 𝗡𝗘𝗧𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗦' 𝗜𝗡 𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗦


𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗦 - The Occupational Safety and Health Center Regional Extension Unit VI successfully conducted a BOSH training for Safety Officer 1 for the students, faculty and staff of 3 well-known Universities in Region 6, West Visayas State University, Filamer Christian University and Capiz State University last October 21-22, 2021. This training is relevant in educating the students about Occupational Safety and Health and will be useful for their future employment, and to their faculty and staff as well. 

The training was empowered and welcomed by the Chief of the Health Control Division of the Occupational Safety and Health Center, Dr. Maria Beatriz G. Villanueva.

"I hope that you will actively participate in this training and learn as much as you can. In your pursuit in broadening, enhancing and strengthening your competence and skills, I hope that you would recognize the networks that are available to you right now… You have amongst you Occupational Safety and Health Advocates, and Networks in region 6 when you talk about enhancing your competent and skills." - Maria Beatriz G. Villanueva.

The training included two special discussions: the Control and Management of Covid-19 in the workplace; and Employees Compensation Program. The training also included a 2-hours training for trainers which was designed to widen the base of qualified and competent OSH trainers and features discussions and skill-building activities in the development, conduct, and management of OSH courses.

The successful collaboration of the Occupational Safety and Health Center and the administration of 3 academe generated a total of 48 New Certified Safety Officers that shall promote the OSH advocacy. During the training, it was decided that the students who completed the training will be the pioneer members of their OSH Networks and shall facilitate OSH activities in their respective educational institutions.

𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗝𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗔𝗡-𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗦 𝗔𝗦 𝗢𝗦𝗛 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗣𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬

 

WESTERN VISAYASThe Occupational Safety and Health Center Regional Extension Unit successfully officiated a Basic OSH Training for Safety Officer 1 for the civil servants of the Local Government Unit of Jordan-Guimaras, in compliance to the Civil Service Commission-Department of Health and Department of Labor and Employment Joint Memorandum Circular CSC-DOH-DOLE JMC no. 1 Series of 2020 or also known as the Occupational Safety and Health OSH Standards for the Public Sector.

The training was empowered and welcomed by the Officer-in-Charge-Chief of the Environment Control Division of the Occupational Safety and Health Center, Evelyn C. Tandayu and was followed by the inspirational message thereafter of the Municipal Mayor of Jordan-Guimaras, Honorable Ruben B. Corpuz.

“This is very timely… This is our way of expanding your knowledge in order to ensure the Safety and Health not only for ourselves in our offices, but you can extend this also to the community in your respective areas. We hope that you will be able to enjoy, and learn as well the principles of Occupational Safety and Health.” – Evelyn C. Tandayu

Considering the continuing influx of changes in the working environment brought about by industrialization, globalization, and technological advancement affecting the health and wellness of government workers in the workplace, there is a need to enhance and to further improve the existing working conditions in all government agencies. It is very commendable how the Local Government Unit of Jordan-Guimaras endeavor for a better working condition in their municipality.

“I hope that this training will make us a better municipality for we will be inspired most especially in SAFETY… We cannot compromise safety, bisan diin kita ya, kag  kun ano man ang ginahimo naton halin sa aton panimalay asta sa aton mga ubra, we should not compromise safety.  I hope that ang banwa sang Jordan will be a model for all of the municipalities of Guimaras.” – Mayor Corpuz
