OSHC Region 6 conducts OSH in the Workplace for BJMP Personnel



The OSHC Region 6 conducted an orientation entitled “Occupational Safety and Health in the Workplace under the New Normal for BJMP personnel,” last December 2, 2020 via the Zoom app.

The webinar on OSH concepts and guidelines was welcomed by OSHC’s Executive Director Engr. Noel C. Binag and followed with the inspirational message by Regional Director of the Jail Bureau JSSUPT Baby Noel P. Montalvo.

The participants were informed on the Mandate, Programs and Services of the Occupational Safety and Health Center by the Regional Program Manager of OSHC Region 6, Mr. Melveen M. Melocoton. “As the clearing house of information on OSH in the country, we are intensifying linkages with government agencies, the private and public sector in accomplishing OSHC’S Vision 1 Million,” he said.

The Salient Points of the CSC DOH DOLE Joint Memo Circular No. 1 Series of 2020 OSH Standards for the Public Sector was also discussed by the Officer-In-Charge of the Human Resource Division of Civil Service Commission Region 6, Ms. Nelfa J. Ampatuan. She reiterated that the Civil Service Commission, as the central human resource institution of the government, mandates to take care of the government workforce from recruitment until retirement.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mary Jane Roches G. Juanico, Head of Infectious Disease Section of Department of Health Center for Health Development (CHD) 6 discussed COVID-19 in Workplace Jail Setting. Wherein she provided jails and detention facilities workers with information on COVID-19, how to prevent spread of the infection and how to prepare for surge cases while maintaining work-life balance.

The session was attended by the BJMP directorates, inspectors, jail officers, safety and health officers and staff.

The OSHC Region 6 continues to work hand-in-hand with stakeholders and OSH partners in the development and implementation of OSH-related activities to strengthen OSH as a way of life in the locality. //JJ
